The publicly traded company Riot Blockchain has announced that the company is purchasing 15,000 S19 Pro and S19j Pro Antminer mining rigs from Bitmain. According to the company, the new load of next-generation miners will increase the hashrate of the operation to 3.8 exahash per second (EH / s).

Following Core Scientific’s announcement this week purchase more than 58,000 Antminer series of ASIC bitcoin miners from Bitmain, Riot Blockchain, Inc. (NASDAQ: RIOT) revealed that it has bought 15,000 new miners. The company says it will get around 3,000 S19 Pro Antminers (110 TH / s) and 12,000 S19j Pro Antminers (100 TH / s).

Riot expects the next-generation miners to be deployed between May and October 2021.

Riot expects the mining rigs to significantly increase the company’s current 2.3EH / s hashrate. The company also notes that at full capacity, the company will manage a total of 37,640 bitcoin miners.

“Riot estimates that its total operational hash capacity will be 3.8 EH / s and consume approximately 120 MW of energy,” Riot said on Monday. “As a result, [Riot] expect to have a total mining efficiency of 31.79 ±% 5 joules per terahash (J / TH). “

Riot’s dedicated bitcoin mining operations are currently located in Coinmint LLP’s Massena, New York facility.

Jeff McGonegal, CEO of Riot said the “continued growth in the number of miners deployed is paramount to a miner’s success.”

“Expanding the company’s hash rate for bitcoin mining and operating on a cost-effective basis is very important, especially during periods when bitcoin’s spot price has risen significantly,” McGonegal said. “We are delighted to have secured this latest purchase, especially given that the available supply of mining hardware is becoming increasingly scarce.”

According to the company, all miners purchased are done with working capital and Riot claims to have no long-term debt. The latest purchase from Riot is one of many major mining platform purchases in 2020, where institutional buyers such as Riot, Core Scientific, Marathon, and others have prevailed.

This trend has prompted a number of bitcoin mining rig models are sold out very quickly and push small buyers into secondary markets. For example, Bitmain’s store currently has next-generation Antminer devices for sale, but people have to settle for a “ futures order. ”

Following the Riot Blockchain purchase of 15k miners, Irene Gao, Antminer Sales Director of NCSA Region Bitmain, told Bitmain that the Antminer 19 Series “is enjoying great popularity in the global markets.”
