Planned platform downtime – February 11, 2020

Bitfinex is performing a system upgrade Tuesday, February 11 designed to improve the stability and scalability of the iFinex infrastructure.

The upgrade starts at 10:00 am UTC and services are offline from four to seven o’clock.

Please note that this is a rough estimate and the exact start time may change slightly based on market movements.

The platform upgrade requires all iFinex trading platforms to be taken offline for the duration of the maintenance period. This means that Bitfinex traders will not be able to trade, view or access their wallets during the update.

We kindly ask all our traders to plan ahead accordingly and make any necessary account adjustments before the platform upgrade begins.

What this means for traders

Traders on Bitfinex do not need to take any action:

  • All funds remain safe and unaffected during the platform upgrade and are not at risk at any time.
  • No orders are fulfilled during downtime. All open orders are kept (regardless of price movements) and will resume once the platform is back online.
  • Users are not liquidated during downtime. However, traders should be aware that if the price moves significantly during this time, they run the risk of being liquidated when the platform is reopened. In accordance with this, we kindly ask all traders to review their margin requirements and assess the risk of market movements on their open margin positions before entering the maintenance window.

For more information on the day of the upgrade, please refer to the Bitfinex status page and Twitter take into account the official progress. We’ll let our users know five minutes before the platform reopens. Trading starts ten minutes after the platform is accessible again.

We appreciate your patience during the system upgrade and look forward to providing you with an enhanced trading experience.
